Fresher: what changes

A nursing recruiter reading a fresher resume looks for three things: the qualification and council registration stated plainly, the wards and hours you have already worked, and a BLS certificate. Clinical postings are your experience, so give them numbers: wards, beds, patients per shift and procedures done under supervision. Nothing on the page should ever identify a patient.

First thing a reader checks: Qualification and registration in plain words: GNM or B.Sc Nursing, college and year, and one line saying you are registered with the state nursing council. HR desks usually look here first.

2 to 5 years: what changes

After two or more years a hospital reads a nurse's resume for the unit you work in and the scale you handle: patients per shift, beds, cases a week and your safety record. Registration and BLS stay, college marks shrink to one line, and training juniors or helping with an NABH audit becomes your sign of growth.

First thing a reader checks: The unit and its scale: ICU, OT, ward or emergency, beds in the unit and patients per shift. Hospitals tend to hire by unit, so a general 'staff nurse' line hides your best fit.

5+ years: what changes

A senior nurse's resume is read as a management document: how many nurses you supervise, which units and how many beds, and which quality figures moved on your watch. Bedside detail shrinks to a line or two, while rosters, audits, training and incident reporting take the space. Every figure should be one your hospital records, and none should describe a patient.

First thing a reader checks: Staff and beds under you: nurses supervised, wards or units and shifts covered. These set your level faster than the title does.
