Why single-column
No two-column template. Here is the evidence.
In a 2026 six-layout benchmark, two-column was the only layout that drew a critical parser flag. In a 357-run study, geometry-sorted parsers lost 24 points of structure on two-column resumes and detached employer names from job titles. Text recovery looks fine; structure is what breaks.
You cannot know which parser a given company runs. Naukri, SuccessFactors, Workday and the small vendors behind startup career pages all read differently. A single column with standard headings parses the same way everywhere, so that is the only kind we ship.
Want the sidebar look? Modern Accent and Experienced Impact put skills in a full-width band above Experience. It reads like a sidebar to a human and like one column to a machine.
- No tables, text boxes or columns. Headings are plain text.
- Contact details in the body, not the PDF header; several parsers skip headers.
- Round bullets (U+2022), no icons; dates as “Jun 2024 – Present”.
- Fonts embedded, ligatures off, so copy-paste gives real words.
- Photo, DOB, father's name and declaration only in Government/PSU, where forms still ask for them.
