Fresher: what changes

A newly qualified CA is read for the work behind the qualification: how many clients, what turnover bands, which audits and returns you did yourself and what you found. Write the articleship like a job, with the firm, the type of clients and your deliverables. Employers also check the tools and the marks line, so keep those clean, but the bullets show whether you have done real fieldwork or only watched it.

First thing a reader checks: The type and size of clients: turnover bands and industries, written without naming clients unless your firm allows it.

2 to 5 years: what changes

Once you are qualified, the reader wants to know what you now own: audits led, returns signed off, a close timeline you shortened or a reporting pack you built. The articleship shrinks to a line in the summary or education, and bullets move to results with turnover, timelines and rupee values. Industry finance teams read for process ownership; audit firms read for client load and team size.

First thing a reader checks: Client load and turnover bands for practice roles; entity count, turnover and reporting calendar for industry roles.

5+ years: what changes

At five or more years a CA resume is read for control and scale: team size, entities and turnover covered, how fast you close and report, and how audits and transformations went on your watch. The reader expects two employers described through decisions and outcomes, not a list of ledgers handled. Compared with the two to five year page, your own tasks shrink to one line and the team, the timelines and the controls take the space.

First thing a reader checks: Team size, entities and turnover covered, in the first bullet of each role.
