HR Executive resume for freshers: a sample from India

An HR fresher is read for two things: have you touched real HR work, and do you handle detail and people with care. Most freshers have one internship, so the page leans on that placement and one project, shown with counts such as joiners onboarded, records updated and employees surveyed. The next level adds ownership of a whole process, such as closing a role from requisition to joining.

Summary examples for a fresher

Two ways to open the page. Neither is the summary on the sample resume beside it, so you can see more than one approach.

Summary example 1

Summary
BBA graduate in Human Resource Management with a 10-week internship in onboarding and HRMS data entry. Works comfortably in greytHR and MS Excel, and is applying for HR Executive roles in HR operations or recruitment support.Leads with the internship and the two tools a portal search will look for. Suits a candidate whose one placement was in HR operations.

Summary example 2

Summary
MBA (HR) fresher who analysed exit interviews from 60 leavers in a summer project and drafted a leave-policy note for a 120-person unit. Looking for an HR Executive role in employee engagement or HR operations.Opens with the project result instead of the degree. Fits an MBA candidate whose strongest evidence is a live project rather than a long internship.

Bullet rewrites, weak to strong

Each pair shows a line people really write and a stronger version of the same fact. The numbers are illustrations. If you have no number, see resume bullets with numbers when you have none.

  1. Before

    Helped in HR department

    After

Coordinated onboarding for 70 new joiners across 2 batches in a 2-month internship: documents, induction schedule and Keka entries, with no missed joining dates

    Why

Counts what was handled (70 joiners, 2 batches) and names the three tasks hidden inside 'helped'. No missed joining dates is the outcome a manager cares about.

  2. Before

    Maintained employee records

    After

Entered 480 joiner and exit details into greytHR and matched them with leave sheets, correcting 36 mismatches before the payroll cut-off

    Why

HR data work is easy to claim and easy to check. A volume and an error count show care with detail without using the word.

  3. Before

Did a survey project in college

    After

Surveyed 85 employees of a 200-person unit on engagement, analysed the replies in Excel and presented 3 recommendations to the HR head

    Why

Gives the sample size, the tool and the audience. A project is stronger when someone with authority read the findings.

  4. Before

    Assisted in recruitment drive

    After

Screened 150 resumes against a job description, called 60 candidates and scheduled 22 interviews for 4 open sales roles during a campus-hiring drive

    Why

Funnel numbers (150, 60, 22) show you understand recruitment as a pipeline. Naming the roles tells the reader what kind of hiring it was.

  5. Before

    Prepared HR documents

    After

Drafted 45 offer and appointment letters from approved templates and caught 6 salary mismatches against the approval sheet before issue

    Why

Shows accuracy where it matters: documents that carry money. The mismatch count is the proof that you checked.

  6. Before

Member of HR club in college

    After

Organised a 2-day HR conclave as Joint Secretary of the HR Club: invited 9 speakers, handled registrations for 320 students and kept spend within a ₹60,000 budget

    Why

A membership says nothing. Speakers, registrations and a budget show coordination and money handled, which an HR team notices.

Skills to list, grouped

Group skills into three or four lines and keep only those you could discuss for ten minutes. Each should appear in a bullet, a project or a certificate.

  • HR work: Onboarding, Resume screening, Interview scheduling, HR documentation, Employee engagement surveys
  • Systems and tools: greytHR, Keka, Naukri RMS, MS Excel, Google Forms
  • Foundations: Employee records, Offer letters, Policy drafting

What recruiters for this role tend to look for

  • Real HR tasks with numbers: joiners onboarded, records updated, candidates screened. Recruiters usually read the internship before the degree.
  • Accuracy with documents and data. Offer letters, joining forms and HRMS entries carry salary and identity details, so a count of errors caught reads as care.
  • One or two tools you actually used, such as an HRMS, a job portal or Excel. Tools are often searched for in portals, so list only those you can show in a bullet.
  • Clear written English on a clean one-page file. The first job is mostly emails and documents, so the resume itself is the writing sample.
  • A project or survey with a sample size and a result, because it shows you can collect information from people and report back.

Mistakes common at this level

  • Writing 'good interpersonal skills' and 'people person' instead of a task. Every HR resume says it; a count of joiners onboarded is the only version a reader checks.
  • Listing syllabus subjects (HRM, OB, Labour Laws) as skills. Recruiters look for tasks and tools: onboarding, screening, HRMS, Excel.
  • Calling an internship 'HR department' with no task list. Name two or three jobs you did and give one number for each.

Section order on the sample

The sample uses the Fresher First template, A4 (210 by 297 mm), one column, with the sections in this order: Summary, Education, Projects, Skills, Experience, Certifications. The order follows the level: education and projects lead because there is little job history yet.

Questions people ask

Should an HR fresher put a career objective on the resume?

Use a two-line summary instead: your degree, the one HR area you worked in and the role you want. A generic objective tells a recruiter nothing. Resume summary for freshers has more examples.

Is a two-month internship enough to apply for HR Executive roles?

It is common and usually enough if you describe it with tasks and counts. Name what you handled, such as onboarding, screening or HRMS entries, and add a project to show your analysis. State the dates honestly, since employers can verify them.

Which HR tools should a fresher list?

Only tools you have used: an HRMS such as greytHR or Keka, a job portal or applicant tracker, and MS Excel. If you have not touched a paid HRMS, a college project in Excel or Google Forms is still worth naming, as long as a bullet backs it up.
