HR Executive resume with 5+ years of experience: a sample from India

By five years the HR resume is read for judgment and business effect: attrition moved, hiring volume and agency spend, headcount decisions, and how many leaders and employees you support. Routine tasks such as letters and data entry shrink to a line, and the summary names a business partner, manager or head-of-HR target.

Bullet rewrites, weak to strong

Each pair shows a line people really write and a stronger version of the same fact. The numbers are illustrations. If you have no number, see resume bullets with numbers when you have none.

  1. Before

    Handled employee relations

    After

Resolved 55 employee-relations cases across 3 sites in 12 months, closing 90% within the 15-day internal standard with none escalated outside the company

    Why

Volume, spread, a service standard and a clean outcome. A senior reader wants to see judgment under pressure, not a duty.

  2. Before

    Responsible for manpower planning

    After

Planned FY27 manpower for 3 business units, trimming a request for 96 hires to 78 after role-by-role review and saving about ₹1.4 Cr in annual salary cost

    Why

A business partner earns trust by testing a request. Headcount before and after, plus the cost effect, shows it. Be ready to explain how you estimated the saving.

  3. Before

    Handled performance appraisal

    After

Ran the annual appraisal for 640 employees in 11 departments and raised on-time completion from 71% to 96% by moving it onto Keka with manager reminders

    Why

Scale, a baseline and a result. Moving a process onto a system is a decision, not a task.

  4. Before

    Implemented HR policies

    After

Rolled out a hybrid-work policy to 640 employees through 3 town halls and a one-page FAQ; 96% acknowledged it within two weeks

    Why

Names the policy, the reach and how you got people to read it. Acknowledgement is a result a reviewer can picture.

  5. Before

    Worked on employee engagement

    After

Raised the engagement-survey score from 68 to 79 in two cycles by fixing the top 5 themes, including a shift-allowance review for 140 operators

    Why

A score with a baseline and the specific fix behind it. 'Worked on' hides whether anything changed.

  6. Before

    Managed HR team

    After

Coached 2 HR executives through a 12-month development plan; one was promoted to senior executive and the other took over payroll oversight

    Why

People leadership with a count, a plan and outcomes others can confirm.

Skills to list, grouped

Group skills into three or four lines and keep only those you could discuss for ten minutes. Each should appear in a bullet, a project or a certificate.

  • Business partnering: Workforce planning, Employee relations, Attrition analysis, Performance management
  • People operations: Talent acquisition, Payroll oversight, HRMS implementation, Policy design
  • Tools and leadership: Keka, MS Excel, HR analytics, Team management

What recruiters for this role tend to look for

  • Scope you can defend: employees supported, business heads advised, sites covered. Put it in the first line of the summary.
  • Outcomes with baselines: attrition before and after, agency spend, time to fill, engagement score. Percentages with a period read as honest.
  • Judgment: a headcount request you challenged, a policy you rolled out, a case you closed without escalation.
  • People leadership: team size, who you developed and promoted, and which HR processes you handed over.
  • A clean, short career trail with titles that step up, since offers are often verified against employment records.

Mistakes common at this level

  • Keeping the fresher-style task list (letters, data entry, joining formalities). At this level they say you are still doing them.
  • Writing 'strategic partner to the business' with no business unit, headcount or number. Strategy needs a decision and a result.
  • Quoting attrition or cost figures with no baseline or period. 'Reduced attrition by 8%' leaves the reader asking from what, over how long.

Section order on the sample

The sample uses the Classic Single template, A4 (210 by 297 mm), one column, with the sections in this order: Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, Certifications. The order follows the level: experience leads, with fewer and sharper entries.

Questions people ask

How does an HRBP resume differ from an HR executive resume?

It shows decisions and business effect: headcount plans you challenged, attrition you moved, cost you saved and how many leaders you advise. Daily tasks such as letters and data entry drop off. Tie each number to a business unit and a period.

Can I include confidential figures like attrition or salary cost?

Use rounded figures or percentage changes, and leave out employee names, individual pay and anything your employment contract covers. A change with a baseline is usually safer than an absolute headcount, and you can give detail in the interview.

How do I show a move from HR operations to HR business partner?

Show the step with scope. Payroll, HRMS and compliance experience gives you data credibility, so keep it to one line in the earlier role and give the business-facing work its own bullets with numbers. See what to remove from an Indian resume for what to cut.
