Teacher (B.Ed) resume with 5+ years of experience: a sample from India

A principal reading a senior teacher's resume checks scope and results over time: the size of the department, the results across batches and what you changed at school level. Classroom detail shrinks to a line, and curriculum, training, budget and mentoring take its place.

Summary examples for 5+ years of experience

Two ways to open the page. Neither is the summary on the sample resume beside it, so you can see more than one approach.

Cut the number of Class 10 students below 60% from 42 to 19 in two years through remedial groups and common tests. Looking for a vice-principal or academic coordinator role.Opens with department scope and a result across two years. Fits an HOD asking for a school-wide post.

Names teachers led, children covered and one system you set up, which is what a management committee reads for.

Bullet rewrites, weak to strong

Each pair shows a line people really write and a stronger version of the same fact. The numbers are illustrations. If you have no number, see resume bullets with numbers when you have none.

  1. Before

In charge of the Science department

    After

Led a 7-teacher Science department (Classes 6 to 10, about 900 students) and reset the term plan so the syllabus ended 3 weeks before the pre-board exams

    Why

Team size, student scope and a decision with a date attached. 'In charge of' only names the post.

  2. Before

    Good results in board exams

    After

Raised the Class 10 Mathematics board average from 71% to 82% across 3 batches and cut the number of students below 50% from 17 to 4 through remedial groups

    Why

Three batches show a pattern rather than one good year, and the second figure shows who the change helped.

  3. Before

    Conducted teacher training

    After

Trained 24 teachers in 3 workshops on question-paper design and rubric marking; the gap between sections on the common paper fell from 9 marks to 4

    Why

How many teachers, how many sessions and what changed afterwards. Training counts when the effect can be seen in marks or practice.

  4. Before

    Curriculum work

    After

Redesigned the Class 6 to 8 Social Science yearly plan around 14 projects, replacing 2 unit tests with project assessments across all 5 sections

    Why

Names the classes, the change in the plan and its reach. Curriculum work is hard to judge until the reader sees what was replaced.

  5. Before

    Responsible for school events

    After

Organised the annual science and literature fest for 1,100 students with a ₹2.2 L budget, 36 stalls and 9 volunteer teachers, and finished ₹14,000 under budget

    Why

Audience, rupees, stalls and people in one line. Staying under budget is the figure that tells a management committee you can be trusted with more.

  6. Before

    Mentored junior teachers

    After

Mentored 5 teachers through 30 lesson observations in two years and written feedback after each; 3 were later made subject coordinators

    Why

A count, a routine and an outcome other people can confirm. Mentoring reads as leadership when someone moved up.

Skills to list, grouped

Group skills into three or four lines and keep only those you could discuss for ten minutes. Each should appear in a bullet, a project or a certificate.

  • Academic leadership: Department Leadership, Curriculum Design, Teacher Training, Mentoring
  • Results and quality: Board-exam Analysis, Lesson Observation, Remedial Programmes, Assessment Design
  • Administration: Budgeting, Examination Coordination, Parent Communication

What recruiters for this role tend to look for

  • Scope in numbers: teachers led, students covered and classes, so a principal sees the size of the job in one glance.
  • Results across three or four batches rather than one good year, with the starting point stated.
  • Changes you made at school level: curriculum plans, assessment design, training sessions, timetable or exam systems.
  • A visible route through the roles, classroom teacher, class teacher, coordinator, HOD, with dates, so the next step looks earned.
  • Qualifications stated once: B.Ed, any postgraduate degree and recognised training. Short courses unrelated to the post tend to add noise.

Mistakes common at this level

  • Two pages of classroom duties. After ten years, give teaching one line and use the rest for leadership, results and systems.
  • Listing every workshop attended since 2015. Keep the two or three you delivered or that changed what you do.
  • Writing 'responsible for results' with no before and after. Name the batches, the subject and the starting figure.

Section order on the sample

The sample uses the Classic Single template, A4 (210 by 297 mm), one column, with the sections in this order: Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, Certifications. The order follows the level: experience leads, with fewer and sharper entries.

Questions people ask

Should a senior teacher still list school marks?

No. List the B.Ed and any postgraduate degree with marks, and drop Class X and XII. A principal at this stage asks about your results and your team, not your school marks. See what to remove from an Indian resume.

How do I write a promotion inside one school?

Put the school name once and list 'PGT English' and 'Head of Department' as two dated lines. Keep classroom detail on the older line and use the newer line for the team, the results and the budget.

Can one page carry ten years of teaching?

Usually yes. Give the last two roles in full, compress older ones to a line and let every bullet carry a number. A second page is only worth it if each added line is a result.
