Teacher (B.Ed) resume for freshers: a sample from India

A school reading a fresher B.Ed resume looks for proof that you have already stood in front of a class: which classes and sections, how many students and what you planned. Teaching practice is your experience, so write it like a job, and say plainly whether CTET or a state TET is passed. Marks still matter at this level, and there are no board results to show yet.

Summary examples for a fresher

Two ways to open the page. Neither is the summary on the sample resume beside it, so you can see more than one approach.

Summary example 1

Applying for TGT Science roles.Leads with the internship and the exam status. Suits a candidate whose only classroom time so far is teaching practice.

Summary example 2

Looking for a primary teacher post in a CBSE or state-board school. For primary applicants. Names the age group, the class size and one routine, because primary schools read for classroom handling first.

Bullet rewrites, weak to strong

Each pair shows a line people really write and a stronger version of the same fact. The numbers are illustrations. If you have no number, see resume bullets with numbers when you have none.

  1. Before

Did teaching practice in a school

    After

Taught Social Science to Classes 7 and 8 (CBSE, 36 to 40 students per section) during a 4-month B.Ed internship; wrote 30 lesson plans and 2 map-based activity units

    Why

Gives the classes, the board, the section size and what you produced. 'Did teaching practice' only tells the reader that a placement happened.

  2. Before

    Managed class during internship

    After

Ran a 40-student Class 7 section as attachment teacher and halved late homework submissions in 6 weeks with a one-page weekly planner

    Why

Names the size of the section, your role in it and the change. A routine another teacher could copy is the kind of detail a school remembers.

  3. Before

    Prepared lesson plans

    After

Wrote 30 lesson plans, each with a learning outcome, one activity and an exit question; the supervising teacher reused 9 of them the next term

    Why

A count plus the parts of each plan shows method. The reuse figure is the proof that someone else found them usable.

  4. Before

    Checked notebooks and corrected papers

    After

Marked 112 unit-test scripts across 3 sections within 3 days and added two written comments to every paper, so repeat spelling errors in Class 6 fell from 9 to 4 per page

    Why

Volume, turnaround and a change the marking caused. Marking stays invisible unless you say how fast it was and what improved.

  5. Before

    Member of literary club

    After

Led a 14-member literary club that ran 5 events for 220 students, including a storytelling day for Classes 6 to 8 with 9 invited schools

    Why

A position of responsibility counts when it shows the people, events and audience you handled. Schools read it as early evidence of coordination.

  6. Before

    Appeared for CTET

    After

Qualified CTET Paper II (Classes 6 to 8) with 108 out of 150 and listed the paper, the exam body and the year under Certifications

    Why

State a pass only if you hold the certificate; write 'appeared' or 'result awaited' if that is the position. A pass with the paper and year can be checked, which is why schools trust it.

Skills to list, grouped

Group skills into three or four lines and keep only those you could discuss for ten minutes. Each should appear in a bullet, a project or a certificate.

  • Classroom: Lesson Planning, Classroom Management, Formative Assessment, Activity-based Learning
  • Subjects and boards: CBSE Curriculum, State Board Syllabus, NCERT Textbooks, English Language
  • Digital tools: Google Classroom, Canva, MS PowerPoint, Google Forms

What recruiters for this role tend to look for

  • The stage and board you have taught: primary, middle or secondary, CBSE or state board. Schools usually hire for a stage, so put it in the first line.
  • TET status stated plainly. Schools often ask whether CTET or a state TET is passed; a pass belongs under Certifications and a pending result belongs in one honest sentence.
  • Evidence of planning: lesson plans written, units designed or a worksheet bank, rather than 'taught well'.
  • A readable one-page file with subject, board and class range in the heading line, so a school coordinator can sort it in seconds.
  • Marks that agree with the application form: B.Ed and degree percentages, with Class X and XII on one line each when the school or board form asks.

Mistakes common at this level

  • Opening with a line about loving children and shaping futures. Replace it with the subject, the classes you taught and one outcome.
  • Describing teaching practice as 'observed and taught some classes'. Give the number of sections, students, weeks and lesson plans.
  • Leaving the TET position vague or implying a pass that is only 'appeared'. Schools check the roll number and result later, and a mismatch costs more than an honest 'result awaited'.

Section order on the sample

The sample uses the Fresher First template, A4 (210 by 297 mm), one column, with the sections in this order: Summary, Education, Projects, Skills, Experience, Certifications. The order follows the level: education and projects lead because there is little job history yet.

Questions people ask

Should a B.Ed fresher mention CTET if the result has not come yet?

Write the truth in one line, such as 'CTET Paper II, appeared, result awaited', and add the pass under Certifications only once you hold it. A school that checks later will find the real position either way.

Do I list school marks as a fresher teacher?

Usually yes at this level, one line each for Class X and XII, because many school and state forms ask for them. Keep the B.Ed and degree percentages above them. More in CGPA vs percentage and school marks.

Does teaching practice count as experience?

Yes. Write it as an internship with the school, city, dates, classes and numbers, exactly as you would a job. The layout rules are in resume format for freshers.
