MBA Graduate resume with 5+ years of experience: a sample from India

By the time an MBA has five or more years behind it, the page is a management record: the budget or P&L you carried in rupees, the team you led and the business result that followed. Pick two or three decisions you can defend in an interview, show each with a baseline, and let older roles shrink to a line.

Summary examples for 5+ years of experience

Two ways to open the page. Neither is the summary on the sample resume beside it, so you can see more than one approach.

Summary example 1

Summary
Senior Manager, Marketing with 10 years in consumer goods. Led a 7-member team and a ₹22 Cr budget, and relaunched a home-care brand from ₹31 Cr to ₹48 Cr in 3 years. Looking for an Associate Director, Marketing role. The marketing version. Leads with budget and team, then one revenue outcome over a stated period.

Summary example 2

Summary
Finance manager with an MBA (Finance) and 9 years in manufacturing, now leading an 8-member team and the ₹480 Cr annual budget for 4 plants. Cut working capital by ₹32 Cr over 2 years and shortened the close from 8 days to 4. Looking for a finance controller role. The finance version. Pairs the scale of the budget with two measurable results, which is what a CFO reads for.

Bullet rewrites, weak to strong

Each pair shows a line people really write and a stronger version of the same fact. The numbers are illustrations. If you have no number, see resume bullets with numbers when you have none.

  1. Before

    Handled brand budget

    After

Managed a ₹22 Cr annual brand and trade budget for 4 brands and moved 18% of it from print to digital and quick commerce after a 6-month return analysis

    Why

The budget, the portfolio and a reallocation decision with its reason. 'Handled' says nothing about judgement.

  2. Before

    Led marketing team

    After

Led a 7-member marketing team across brand, digital and trade, set quarterly goals with each manager and saw 2 promoted within 24 months

    Why

Team size, the management routine and a people outcome. Promotions are the clearest sign that a team grew under you.

  3. Before

    Worked on working capital

    After

Cut working capital by ₹32 Cr over 2 years by revising credit terms for 40 distributors and clearing 600 stale invoices

    Why

A finance outcome in rupees with the two actions behind it. The same pattern works for a finance head or a business-unit head.

  4. Before

    Managed HR for the unit

    After

Led HR for a 900-employee plant with a team of 5, cut attrition from 21% to 13% and filled 85 vacancies in 12 months

    Why

Headcount, team, two outcomes and a period. HR leadership is judged on both retention and hiring, so give both.

  5. Before

    Responsible for P&L

    After

Owned the P&L of a ₹120 Cr business unit and lifted EBITDA margin from 7.5% to 10.2% in 2 years by exiting 14 low-margin SKUs

    Why

The revenue scope, the margin before and after, and the decision behind it. A P&L claim without a margin movement is a title, not a result.

  6. Before

    Handled new product launches

    After

Launched 4 SKUs across 2 categories in 18 months with sales, supply chain and R&D; first-year revenue reached ₹19 Cr against a ₹14 Cr plan

    Why

Count, categories, partners and a result against a plan. A plan figure is what makes the revenue number believable.

Skills to list, grouped

Group skills into three or four lines and keep only those you could discuss for ten minutes. Each should appear in a bullet, a project or a certificate.

  • Commercial ownership: P&L Management, Budgeting, Pricing, Working Capital Management
  • Leadership: Team Leadership, Stakeholder Management, Hiring, Vendor and Agency Management
  • Functional depth: Brand Strategy, Consumer Insights, Financial Planning

What recruiters for this role tend to look for

  • Rupee scope: the budget, revenue or P&L you personally carried, with the year. It places you at the right level faster than the title.
  • Team size and how it grew: direct reports, indirect reports, hires made and managers promoted.
  • A business outcome with a baseline: revenue, margin, share, cost or working capital, and the period over which it moved.
  • Decisions, not only deliveries: why you changed pricing, agencies, vendors or the organisation, and what followed.
  • A clean single-column file with education cut to the MBA and first degree, and titles and dates that match your LinkedIn profile.

Mistakes common at this level

  • Describing the function ('the brand team handles marketing') instead of the budget, team and result you carried.
  • Mixing company results with personal results. If twenty people delivered, say what you decided and owned.
  • Keeping campus-era detail, such as summer projects and committee posts, after nine years. Use that space for scope.

Section order on the sample

The sample uses the Classic Single template, A4 (210 by 297 mm), one column, with the sections in this order: Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, Certifications. The order follows the level: experience leads, with fewer and sharper entries.

Questions people ask

Should I write rupees as crore and lakh, or as INR million?

For Indian employers, ₹ Cr and ₹ L are read easily and are the norm. For a global company or an international role, use INR million or convert and say so, and do not mix the two styles on one page.

How much of a ten-year career should I show in detail?

Give the last two roles in full, one line for anything older and no summer-project detail. The cuts are easier with the checklist in what to remove from an Indian resume.

Is one page enough at senior manager level?

Often it is, if every line is a result. Add a second page only when each extra line carries scope or a number; the sample here fits on one.
