Sales Executive resume with 2 to 5 years of experience: a sample from India

At two to five years a sales manager wants your numbers against a target, in rupees and as a percentage, and a sense of the patch you worked: branches, outlets, dealers or leads. Marks come off the page, and the summary names the product and the step you want next.

Summary examples for 2 to 5 years of experience

Two ways to open the page. Neither is the summary on the sample resume beside it, so you can see more than one approach.

Bullet rewrites, weak to strong

Each pair shows a line people really write and a stronger version of the same fact. The numbers are illustrations. If you have no number, see resume bullets with numbers when you have none.

  1. Before

    Responsible for sales

    After

Achieved 118% of a ₹45 L annual target selling CASA and fixed-deposit products across 3 Pune branches and opened 210 new accounts in FY25

    Why

Percentage of target, the rupee target, the products and the branches. A sales manager reads the percentage first and the rupees second.

  2. Before

    Did field sales

    After

Covered 140 retail outlets in a Lucknow territory and grew monthly secondary sales from ₹9 L to ₹14 L in 8 months by adding 32 new outlets

    Why

Territory size, a before-and-after in rupees, the time taken and the lever (new outlets). Use the sales measure your company actually tracked, here secondary sales.

  3. Before

    Called leads

    After

Dialled 120+ leads a day for an edtech course and converted 7% to demos against a team average of 4%, generating ₹22 L in course revenue in Q3

    Why

Activity, conversion and a team comparison in one line, then revenue. Inside sales is judged on conversion against peers, so give the peer figure when you have it.

  4. Before

    Followed up with customers

    After

Followed up every quote within 48 hours with a three-step call and WhatsApp sequence, lifting quote-to-order conversion from 14% to 21% over two quarters

    Why

Describes the routine and its effect on conversion. 'Followed up' alone cannot be tested; a before-and-after can.

  5. Before

    Good sales performance every month

    After

Exceeded the monthly target in 10 of 12 months in FY25 and finished 3rd of 24 executives in the zone on annual revenue

    Why

Consistency (10 of 12) and a rank with the size of the field. One strong month can be luck; ten of twelve is not.

  6. Before

    Handled dealer accounts

    After

Managed 18 dealer accounts worth ₹60 L in quarterly sales and collected ₹11 L of overdue payments, cutting dues older than 60 days from 22% to 9%

    Why

Account count, size and a collections result. Sales teams are often judged on money collected as well as booked, so say so if it was part of your job.

Skills to list, grouped

Group skills into three or four lines and keep only those you could discuss for ten minutes. Each should appear in a bullet, a project or a certificate.

  • Selling: Lead conversion, Cross-selling, Negotiation, Objection handling
  • Territory and accounts: Territory planning, Dealer management, Key account follow-up, Collections
  • Tools and reporting: CRM, MS Excel, Sales MIS

What recruiters for this role tend to look for

  • Target and achievement in rupees and as a percentage, with the period stated (FY26, Q3).
  • Conversion or hit rate set against a peer or team average.
  • Territory size: branches, outlets, dealers or leads handled, so the reader can scale the result.
  • In banking and insurance, any exam or licence you hold (for example NISM Series V-A), shown only where you actually hold it.
  • Consistency over a year, shown as months or quarters on target, and a rank with the size of the field.

Mistakes common at this level

  • Writing 'responsible for sales' above a list of products. Give the target, the percentage achieved and the period.
  • Giving only revenue, with no target. ₹1.5 Cr sounds large or small depending on the territory; the percentage of target is what travels between companies.
  • Keeping school marks and a long objective after three years in sales. Use that space for a second proof point.

Section order on the sample

The sample uses the Classic Single template, A4 (210 by 297 mm), one column, with the sections in this order: Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, Certifications, Achievements. The order follows the level: skills and experience lead and school marks have come off.

Questions people ask

Should I show a percentage of target or rupees?

Both, in one bullet: the percentage of target and the rupee figure behind it. Recruiters compare candidates across territories on percentage and use rupees to judge scale. State the period so the number can be checked.

How do I write sales numbers if my company never shared the target?

Use what you do know: rupees sold, accounts opened or your rank among peers. Say 'ranked 3rd of 24 executives' if a ranking was circulated. Do not invent a target; if you estimate, write 'about' and be ready to explain the estimate at the interview.

Can I move from bank or insurance sales to inside sales?

Yes, if you show the parts that carry over: lead conversion, follow-up discipline and calls a day. Lead with those numbers and keep product detail short. See career switch or gap year resume.
