Resume for Infosys: showing fundamentals when the screen is mostly a test
InfyTQ is the name students search for. We cannot confirm how any Infosys test works this year. What we can do is help your resume prove what every IT-services screen cares about: that you understand the basics and can show it.

In short
- We do not describe the current Infosys test or cutoffs. Read the official notice.
- For CS and IT graduates the edge is proof of fundamentals: graded course work, a project with a real database, and a clear statement of your own part.
- Put the issuer, tier and year on every certificate and a link on every project.
- Match the form exactly, keep to one page, and leave off the photo and declaration.
What we know, and what we do not
Fundamentals, shown instead of claimed
IT-services employers hire for trainable fundamentals, which makes the word 'good' on a resume nearly worthless. 'Good knowledge of OOP' invites a quiz. A line that shows what you built with OOP invites a conversation. The table sets out the difference for the four fundamentals most resumes mention.
| Fundamental | A line that shows it | A line that only claims it |
|---|---|---|
| OOP | Modelled a library system in Java with 6 classes and an interface hierarchy, backed by 24 unit tests | Good knowledge of OOP |
| DBMS and SQL | Designed a 7-table MySQL schema for a school and wrote 30 join and aggregate queries for reports | Strong in DBMS |
| Data structures | Implemented a trie and cut autocomplete lookups from 120 ms to 15 ms on 50,000 words | Knows data structures |
| Version control | Maintained a repository with 90 commits and 6 merged pull requests from 2 collaborators | Familiar with Git |
Certificates: issuer, tier, year
A certificate is a quick signal, and it is verifiable, so write it so it can be checked. For NPTEL courses give the course name, the tier (Elite, Elite with Silver or Gold), the IIT that ran it and the year. Three to five certificates that match the role beat a page of unrelated ones.

- Before
Did mini project in Python
AfterWrote a Python tool that read 3 years of hostel electricity bills and charted the 5 highest-use months for the warden

Applying off campus
The same resume works, but a specific posting brings specific words. Move the project closest to the posting to the top, adjust the summary to name the role, and keep every fact the same. Run the file through the ATS checker before uploading to a portal.
What to leave out
No photo, date of birth, father's name or declaration, as set out in what to remove from an Indian resume. No skills you cannot discuss. And no claim about a test you have not passed.
Before you submit: a short checklist
- I have read the current official notice for the route I am using.
- Degree, branch, year and marks match my marksheets and the form.
- OOP, DBMS and data structures each appear inside a project or certificate line.
- Every certificate has an issuer, a tier where one exists, and a year.
- Each project has a stack, a number and, where possible, a link.
- One page, one column, text-based PDF under 1 MB.
Questions people ask
What is InfyTQ, and should it be on my resume?
We could not verify current details of InfyTQ from Infosys documents. If you hold a certificate or score that a programme issued, list it with the issuer and year, as with any certificate. If you do not hold one, do not list it.
How many projects should an Infosys applicant list?
Two or three, each with a stack, a number and a result, plus a link where it is deployed. One finished project beats several half-finished ones.
Is a certificate better than a project?
Neither replaces the other. A certificate shows structured learning and a project shows that you can build. Show both if you have them and put the stronger one first.
